This hands-on workshop introduces version control with Git, a powerful tool that professionals use to track their work and collaborate with others. You'll learn the fundamentals of version control, including how to create repositories, track changes to your files, explore project history, and recover old versions of your work. The workshop covers essential Git commands and workflows that enable you to manage your code effectively, collaborate with colleagues without losing or overwriting work, and maintain a complete record of what changed, when, and why—skills that are invaluable for anyone writing code or managing digital projects.
This is an interactive workshop! Please bring your laptop with the required software pre-installed. Detailed installation instructions are available here. If you need help with installation, arrive early. We will open the room at 1PM.
Please register to attend. Registration is exclusively open to current Stanford affiliates and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. In-person attendees should bring a Stanford ID card or mobile ID to enter the library. Virtual attendees will receive a Zoom link upon registration.
